The University of Maine Intermedia MFA program is pleased to announce the fifth presenter, Luciano Chessa, for the Fall 2013 Visiting Artist series co-sponsored by the Cultural Affairs/Distinguished Lecture Series. In addition to giving a lecture on Tuesday November 12th the artist will perform his newest solo work on Monday, November 11th at 5:30 pm in Minsky Hall, Class of 1944 Hall on the University of Maine campus in Orono.
Luciano Chessa focuses his research on twentieth-century and experimental music and can be found in Musica e Storia (Levi Foundation, Venice); he is the author of Luigi Russolo, Futurist (University of California Press), the first English monograph dedicated to the Art of Noises. His scores are published by RAI TRADE and Carrara and performed in Europe, the United States and Australia. While at the University of Maine, Chessa will perform and original work and present an artist lecture.
The Masters of Fine Arts in Intermedia at the University of Maine provides substantial advanced study for individuals interested in interdisciplinary study in the arts. The program emphasizes intensive development of students’ creative and innovative abilities through a diverse engagement with multiple research processes, critical thinking skills and creative production tools and technologies. The visiting artist series supports and reflects the wide variety of disciplines represented by the program including but not limited to, Art, New Media, Theater, Dance, Philosophy, Art History, Engineering, Communications, Media Studies, Music, Psychology, Natural Sciences, and others.
