Maine offers many wonderful Artist In Residency opportunities. There are so many hidden gems in Maine from the unique landscape, small village town, cultural traditions and more. ACADIA NATIONAL PARK AIR PROGRAM
The Acadia National Park AIR Program is a well established and respected program located in the beautiful Maine woods. This is a two to four week residency with no stipend. There is a $25 application fee. See website for details.
BAKERY PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTIVE
Located in Westbrook, Maine, the Bakery Photographic Collective offers a one week to one month artist in residency. There are no fees or stipend. Artists are responsible for their own room and board. See website for details.
EASTERN FRONTIER EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION & NORTON ISLAND AIR PROGRAM
This Air Program is set in Downeast, Maine and features a lively group of musicians, artists, and writers for a one month residency on a 150 acre island. See website for details.
GEORGES RIVER LAND TRUST
The AIR offers professional visual artists, performing artists, and writers the opportunity to pursue their artistic disciplines and to share their work while being inspired by the area’s extraordinary landscape.
THE GOLDEN APPLE
The Golden Apple is a newly established artist in residency program located on the coast of Maine. They offer two week sessions in the summer and fall. See website for details.
HAYSTACK MOUNTAIN SCHOOL OF CRAFTS
Haystack is an internationally renowned artist in residency program located on beautiful Mount Desert Island. Artists are responsible for room and board and material fees. Scholarships are available, please see website for details.
The home and estate of the late Jack Heliker and Robert LaHotan located on Cranberry Island in Maine has been reserved for an artist in residency program. The program is from three to four weeks long and is intended for mid-career artists. See website for details.
HEWNOAKS ARTIST COLONY
In Lovell, Maine, Hewnoaks Artist Colony provides artists with time and space to create and benefits the local community and the larger world, in Maine and beyond.
MAINE/NEW BRUNSWICK CREATIVE RESIDENCY
The Maine/New Brunswick Creative Residency is an artist exchange program that is intended to increase cultural exchanges between the two regions. MAINE MEDIA WORKSHOPS AND COLLEGE
Located in Mid-Coast Maine, the Maine Media Workshops and College offers a wide range of workshops in addition to their renowned Books Arts Residency Program. For details please visit the website.
MONHEGAN ARTIST RESIDENCY
The Monhegan Artist Residency program offers emerging visual artist a five week residency that includes a $500 stipend, room and board and beautiful picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean. For details please visit the website.

SKOWHEGAN SCHOOL OF PAINTING AND SCULPTURE
The Skowhegan art residency is a nine week program located in Skowhegan, Maine. With an impressive list of visiting faculty and artist participants, the Skowhegan Art Residency program has earned a reputation for being one of the top ten AIR programs in the world.
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MAINE ART DEPARTMENT
The USM Art Department has had a successful AIR program since 1986. This program is seven weeks and includes opportunities to create, exhibit, discuss original works of art in addition to teaching 6-10 undergraduate students. For more information visit the website.
Located in Belfast and Montville, Maine, the Waterfall Arts AIR program offers two distinct programs for emerging artists. The Branching out Program is a mentoring program between artists and students in a chosen creative field of study or interest.
